Every shoot has its own unique challenge(s) to rise to. For this year's 4th of July spot for NW Honda Dealers, it was making fireworks... and then blowing them up. The crafty kids and pyros among us had a ~cough, cough~ BLAST on this one!

NW Honda Dealers: Bring on the Summer shoot
It's pretty much a given that it's going to be raining in the NW. And yet our shoot day for NW Honda Dealers - when we actually wanted it to rain - ended up bright and dry.
No problem!

One Toyota of Oakland
The HCM team in Oakland, CA filming four different spots in two days for One Toyota of Oakland's newest ad campaign that we'll be launching in May. David wrote some fantastic scripts that really highlight how different the process is here - working with only one person from start to finish, and having no negotiations since the lowest price is posted right on the window of every car. Crew and talent have been awesome!

NW Honda shoot: Snowboarding Presidents
We needed a patriotic snowboard, and had very little luck and even less time. So, we got creative and decided to make our own. $20 used board from Craigslist, a number of phone calls, one super talented guy at Rip City Skate, and voila!
The weather didn't quite agree with us up on the mountain - white-out conditions at Timberline made for a cold and challenging day, but we wanted snow, and we definitely got snow.

Content at ACE Hotel
We took over the street in front of the ACE Hotel in downtown Portland for Content 2013 - the fourth annual live design and fashion installation featuring local designers and artists. We built an installation of our own featuring four different environmental designs for four different Infiniti models.

The failure of web advertising
"We're about 15 years into the internet revolution as a mainstream phenomenon and by any measure internet advertising has to be deemed a major failure.
While the web itself has been a massive success (influencing virtually every aspect of our lives) advertising on the web is mostly a bad joke.
Fifteen years into its mainstream life, television had created scores of powerful consumer-facing brands.
The only truly powerful brands I can think of that web advertising has created are native web brands like Google, Yahoo, Amazon and Facebook. It's as if the only brands television was good at creating were CBS, NBC and ABC.
After 15 years, can anyone name even ten serious non-native consumer-facing brands that have been created by web advertising? Is there a brand of coffee, butter, beer, bread, chicken, gasoline, soda, peanut butter, dog food, milk, tires, potato chips, life insurance, lawn mowers...don't make me go on, you get the point...that has been built primarily by web advertising?"
